What is Termidor®?
Termidor® an innovative termiticide or product for control of termites from BASF used for control of subterranean termites during construction of buildings or in post construction uses where buildings have already been set up have been set up and there is termite infestation.
What makes Termidor® different to other termiticides?
We use low dose rate for the new formulation of Termidor® that is Termidor® 96 SC. Therefore, for an area treated you spend less meaning that there is value for money. The other thing that makes Termidor® unique is because it has what we call transfer effect. This improves the efficacy of the product because termites are able to come into contact with the product and spread it to other termites which do not have the product on them, and this causes increased mortality and in due time you find the whole termite nest is controlled. It's also odourless and non-invasive meaning that for termites to know where the product has been applied is difficult.
What are the various uses of Termidor®?
The most important is in construction of buildings or houses where it's applied pre-construction. That is before the building is set up during the laying of the foundation. Termidor® is applied and this protects the building from any future termite attack. That's why we call it preventative application. We also have post-construction application of Termidor which in this case means that the house has been built and maybe Termidor® was not used to prevent termite attack and you find now termites becoming a problem when the building is already constructed and finished. The other area where Termidor can be applied is the control of termite nests. These are the anthills or where we find termites causing damage to establishments or in the environment and this can be controlled by treating the termite nests or the termite mounds with Termidor®.
How many times do I need to apply Termidor® for complete termite control?
With Termidor® you go for one application. Termidor® gives long-term control. We are assuring you when applied well according to the label instructions, there is minimal repeat job.
Previously we had Termidor® EC and now Termidor SC. Why?
Previously we had the Termidor® EC or what we call emulsifiable concentrate and currently now we have Termidor® SC or suspension concentrate. This is because there is improvement in the formulation which we are now selling the SC formulation. This delivers more benefits compared to the EC formulation and some of them are like the unique transfer effect because Termidor® SC is not detectable by termites and also the usage rate is quite low meaning that it's very cost effective because for area treated it's more cost effective compared to the previous formulation.
